HOW TO PLAY:
Shape picture match game:
It's a bit of a twist on the usual group game.
Children match like for like cards based on the shape seen in the picture.
A CD and symbols are a match because they are the same shape.
This resource requires students to problem solve. Print and laminate/cardboard one copy for children to refer back to pairs. They are printed next to each other.
The A4 Displays:
Could be used for freeze by naming the shapes. Or copy 2 or 3 sets for the whole class and children freeze when the music stops. They have to find shapes according to the attribute you call out e.g. corners, straight sides, points etc.
Or you could sit children in a circle (small or whole group) and provide shapes or find shapes from their environment to match (Shape Hunt).
Or you could use them to label attributes for example place flash card sized labels and label accordingly.
21 Small Cards:
Could be used for flash cards.
Games could include snap, concentration, memory, sorting, matching including the picture cards found in the Shape Picture match (first game).
Or use them to demonstrate or create pattern sequences.
They could also be integrated into art lessons when exploring the elements of shape and line in art.
