Typography 26 A4 Manners/Social Skills BLM Teaching Resource on CD
This resource comes as a PDF file burnt to CD with smart cover and envelope. Simply save and print and compile as a book or display in your classroom. Are we forgetting our manners? Are you constantly reminding children to keep their bags neat, return notes, say thank you, pack away and so on? • AIMED AT THE DESIRED BEHAVIOUR. • PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE! Let's work on preventing the issues before they arise. Integrate this resource into your weekly house keeping time. You only need to spend 3-4 minutes. I will prevent you from losing your voice and sounding like a tape recorder! How much time do we waste doing that? How do they work? • It can be a BLM for you and/or a work book for students to colour and write some verbs and adjectives around the picture. • I use these pages from the first day school returns and every week of term • I use one page/skill at a time, spending only 3 minutes discussing • I focus on social skills that may need developing, something you may have observed more than once • I use the skill at the beginning of the week • We discuss how and what we can do and why • Prior to starting guided and independent activities I open the appropriate page and pop it on the board and quickly note I will be looking for.... • I praise children as they go and then again when we return as a group • Further, I use one of my assembly awards for social skills/manners, especially in term one and two • Also available as A4 colour, laminated posters for the classroom BLM SOCIAL SKILLS/MANNERS ARE AS FOLLOWS; 1.
